Registration of a Dr. med. project

Doctoral candidates must register their projects within three months of starting. The application and registration process should be done via the Campus Portal. The degrees of international doctoral candidates are checked for equivalence on this occasion.

Your registration

  • Medical students at a German university can only register their doctoral project after the successful completion of the 1st state examination.
  • Medical students from foreign universities can only register their doctoral project after completing their studies entirely (certified copy of certificate)

  • 3 members
  • The 1st TAC member is usually the main supervisor
  • All TAC members must be habilitated, have been accepted for habilitation or hold a professorship (with very few exceptions)
  • At least two TAC members must be active employees of the LMU medical faculty or the LMU hospital
  • At least one TAC member has to be from a different institution than the 1st TAC member (independence)
  • One TAC member should belong to a clinical institution
  • A helpful list of faculty members can be found in the LMU Directory of Persons and Institutions. Please note that not all faculty members listed are employees of the LMU medical faculty or the LMU hospital.

  • Your supervision agreement will be created for you automatically after completing the registration of your doctoral project in the Campus Portal.
  • Download the supervision agreement and have your TAC members sign it. Then upload the signed agreement back to the portal.

  1. Project description (1 page)
  2. Official certificate of good conduct (not older than 3 months)
  3. Certificate of the 1st state examination or final certificate of medical studies
  4. Curriculum vitae with signature
  5. Statement from the ethics committee, if applicable
  6. The (old) LMU matriculation number (if available)
  7. The following declarations must be submitted by clicking on the corresponding options in the Campus Portal:
    1. Declaration of previously passed or failed doctoral examinations
    2. Declaration of known sanctions for inaccurate information
    3. Declaration of criminal investigation proceedings
  8. Signed doctoral supervision agreement

  • Supervision agreement signed by all TAC members and yourself
  • Proof that you have passed the first section of the medical examination or proof that you have successfully completed your studies (certified copies, no originals, we do not return documents)
  • Official private certificate of good conduct (original - not older than 3 months)
  • APS certificate (only required for degrees from China, India and Vietnam)

Please do not forget to upload your supervision agreement to the Campus Portal! Without the supervision agreement, the registration of your project cannot be completed.
