Founding History of the BMC

The Biomedical Center was opened in October 2015 after a construction period of four years. However, the history of the center began in the mid-1990s, when the Faculty of Medicine made initial plans to concentrate its biomedical research at the Großhadern/Martinsried campus.

25.09.2015: Dimensions of a research building - When the new Biomedical Center is officially inaugurated at the end of October, it already has a long history. Molecular biologist Peter Becker played a key role in driving the major project forward as coordinator.

Schematic drawing of Campus Martinsried with the BMC

The Biomedical Center has been optimally integrated into the Martinsried campus. The building complex is divided into three parts: two research buildings and an elongated teaching building, which houses seminar rooms, rooms for practical trainings as well as two lecture halls.
