LMU Medicine hosts 10th MMS ScienceCon at the Biomedical Center Munich

The 10th MMS ScienceCon took place on 13 June 2026 at the Biomedical Centre Munich, bringing together students, faculty members, jury members, and guests for a day dedicated to scientific exchange and student research. The event was coordinated by Dr. Romana Ruiß and Dr. Johanna Canady.

Originally launched as a local student conference, MMS ScienceCon has developed into an international event. This year’s anniversary edition welcomed participants from universities across Germany as well as from international partner institutions in the Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME) network, including guests from Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Throughout the day, students presented outstanding research projects, engaged in scientific discussions, asked challenging questions, and connected across disciplines, institutions, and continents. The conference highlighted the importance of curiosity, critical thinking, and international collaboration in advancing medicine.

This year’s event was supported by the International Board of LMU Medicine through travel grants, conference funding, and the Best Talk Awards. Special thanks go to Wencke Vonderhagen for her dedicated support in making this international exchange possible.

The organizers also thank Professor Alexander Prof. em. Dr. Gerbes, Ambassador of the Faculty of Medicine for the Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME), whose longstanding commitment to international partnerships and academic exchange has helped strengthen the network that brought many international guests to Munich.

The organizers would like to thank all students who submitted abstracts, as well as the supervisors, jury members, keynote speaker Vicepresident Dr. Philipp Baaske, and everyone who contributed to the success of this anniversary conference.

MMS ScienceCon will return in 2027.
