Teaching qualification
Once your teaching qualification has been determined, your habilitation is complete and you have passed the highest academic examination in Germany, which determines your ability to conduct research and teach.
Assessment of your teaching qualifications
- Within four months of receiving the final vote, the extended faculty council votes on the determination of teaching qualifications. If no decision is reached within this period, the teaching qualification is also deemed to have been determined.
- Once you have fulfilled the publication requirement, you will be issued with a certificate confirming the successful completion of the habilitation process and the associated teaching qualification.
- The certificate will be signed by the president of LMU and the dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
- The certificate indicates the subject area of your teaching qualification and bears the date of the decision by the extended faculty council.
The title Dr. habil.:
The determination of teaching qualification is linked to the right to use the suffix "habil." after the doctoral degree. The suffix cannot be used at the same time as the title of private lecturer or professor.
