How to create your target agreement:
Joint meeting with your academic mentors:
- Within six months of being accepted for your habilitation, you should work out your target agreement (PDF, 86 KB) in a joint meeting with your academic mentors.
- The executive mentor will invite you to the meeting.
- The target agreement will specify the type and scope of the research and teaching activities to be performed and the implementation of the interim evaluation.
- The target agreement may stipulate that an interim evaluation, which should normally take place after two years, is not necessary if the requirements for completing the procedure have already been met.
- The target agreement must be signed by all three of your academic mentors and by you.
- Please send the signed target agreement by email to the Dean's Office.
- You and the executive mentor will receive confirmation of receipt and coming into effect of your target agreement from the dean's office.
- When your target agreement comes into effect, you will be officially assigned independent teaching and research tasks.
Fulfilling your target agreement:
- The progress of your habilitation procedure is usually reviewed after two years in an interim evaluation.
- All the targets set out in the target agreement should be achieved within 4 years of acceptance for habilitation.
- Please notify your academic advisor and the dean's office once you have completed the agreed-upon tasks.
- If your academic advisors determine that the targets cannot be achieved or have not been achieved within the specified period, they may grant you a reasonable extension.
- Changes to the existing target agreement (e.g., changed deadlines, adjusted requirements, or new conditions) will be recorded in a target amendment (PDF, 207 KB).
Your eligibility to supervise doctoral candidates:
If you are employed at the LMU Hospital or an institution of the Faculty of Medicine, you are also entitled to supervise doctoral candidates at the LMU Faculty of Medicine and may be selected as a member of supervisory committees.
You will automatically be added to our list of all members of our faculty who are authorized to supervise doctoral candidates and review dissertations.
