For our lecture series "Trailblazer" we invite eminent scientists to the BMC whose pioneering work opened new research perspectives.
On October 28th, Giulio Superti-Furga (Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vienna and Medical University of Vienna) will talk about "Membrane transporters as mediators of physiology across cells and ecosystems".
All interested are welcome.
Giulio Superti-Furga is a systems biologist best known for his pioneering work in Molecular Medicine. While being at EMBL in Heidelberg, Giulio studied tyrosine kinases in cancers as well as the molecular mechanisms of several drugs, e.g. rapamycin. During his time, he founded Cellsome (proteomics for drug screening). From 2004 on, Giulio was instrumental in establishing CeMM (Center for Molecular Medicine) in Vienna, Austria, a now world leading institution. Giulio now focuses on membrane transporters and molecular precision medicine to bridge basic research with personalized medicine approaches.
