Dr Arek Kendirli (Kerschensteiner Lab) has been honored with the “Multiple Sclerosis Prize of the Eva and Helmer Lehmann Foundation," an award given by the German Neurological Society (DGN) and the Disease-Related Competence Network Multiple Sclerosis (KKNMS). The award recognizes his significant contributions to multiple sclerosis (MS) research.
Since 2012, the KKNMS and the DGN have awarded the MS Young Talent Prize every two years on behalf of the foundation. It is endowed with 5,000 euros and is aimed at young scientists.

The award holds special meaning for Kendirli, as his mother was diagnosed with MS seventeen years ago when he was still in high school. Witnessing the impact of new, effective treatments has driven his passion for understanding the disease. "MS is complicated, like most diseases," said Kendirli, "but the hard work of scientists around the world is bringing us closer to understanding it. I am glad to be part of this effort and to contribute to MS research.”

Expressing his gratitude, Kendirli thanked the DGN and KKNMS for acknowledging the hard work of young scientists. Kendirli also credited the dedicated team that made his research possible: Clara de la Rosa del Val, Katrin Lämmle, Naoto Kawakami, and his supervisor, Martin Kerschensteiner.
