NUS Graduate School visits LMU again to further deepen cooperation in graduate education and joint research.
On November 13, 2025, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) once again welcomed a delegation from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Graduate School. The aim of the full-day visit was to further deepen cooperation in graduate education and joint research projects.
After a tour of the campus, LMU Vice President Prof. Dr. Francesca Biagini opened the technical discussions in the LMU main building. Representatives from both universities then presented their graduate structures and doctoral and master's programs, including the NUS Graduate School, the LMU Graduate Center, the Munich Medical Research School (MMRS), the IBE master's programs, and LMU Computer Science.
The NUS delegation was led by Dr. Caroline Lee, Vice Dean (Outreach and Admissions) of the NUS Graduate School, and consisted of experts from the fields of public health, medicine, computer science, political science, and engineering, among others.
In her presentation, Dr. Lee provided insight into the international orientation of NUS, its excellent placements in global rankings, and the Graduate School's mission to train “innovative scholars, thought leaders, and game changers.”
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the LMU Biomedical Center (BMC) and the Biocenter in Martinsried. There, the focus was on the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences (GSN) and the Munich Center for Neurosciences (MCN), which are prime examples of the strong neuroscience research at LMU.
At the concluding networking dinner with representatives from various LMU faculties, the LMU Medical Center, and the Technical University of Munich, possible next steps were discussed, such as joint summer and doctoral programs, research stays for students and doctoral candidates, or participation in formats such as the NUS Young Fellowship and the Internship & Research Immersion in Singapore (IRIS).
The visit provided important new impetus for the existing collaborations between researchers at NUS and LMU.
Both universities reaffirmed their desire to further expand the partnership and open up even more joint opportunities for young talent in research and innovation.
