Antje Grosche was awarded the Dr. Gaide AMD Research Award for her research in the field of age-related macular degeneration.
On 29th June, Antje Grosche, Professor of the Department of Physiological Genomics at Biomedical Center Munich, was awarded the Dr. Gaide AMD Prize at the 36th Annual Meeting of the German Retina Society. This award recognises outstanding research in the field of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
She received the award for her project 'Validation of miniFH Gene Addition Therapy in Human Retinal Organoids'. The aim of this project is to investigate the efficacy and safety of a novel gene addition therapy recently developed in close collaboration with Prof. Diana Pauly (Philipps University Marburg). By using human retinal organoids, the team aims to make significant progress in the development of potential therapies for AMD by targeting the excessive neuroinflammation associated with this disease.
Professor Grosche said she was honoured to receive this award and expressed her sincere gratitude to the Retinology Society for its support. She also thanked the entire research team and collaborators whose dedication and hard work made this achievement possible. This recognition is a great motivation the teams' ongoing research efforts.
