The IB focuses on attracting, educating, training, and further developing outstanding international researchers, educators, and clinicians, as well as contributing significantly to shaping key global health topics.

LMU Medicine International Board

Inaugural Meeting, October 9, 2023

The International Board (IB) was established at the Faculty of Medicine and LMU University Hospital as the principal body responsible for the internationalization strategy. Its primary mandate is to structure, accelerate, and promote the international development of LMU Medicine. The inaugural meeting was held at the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Medicine on October 9, 2023.

The activities of the IB aim to refine the international profile and increase the visibility of LMU Medicine internationally. Key priorities include the recruitment, training, and advanced education of exceptional international talent in research, teaching, and clinical practice, as well as actively shaping the global health agenda.

The Board’s core responsibility is to formulate an internationalization strategy that provides institutional support for collaborations, academic programs, and strategic partnerships. In collaboration with its working groups, the IB develops processes to implement this strategy and to enact the committee’s resolutions effectively.

Structurally, the International Board is composed of the Chair, Prof. Gudermann, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and the Deputy Chair, Prof. Lerch, Medical Director of LMU University Hospital, along with additional board members from the faculty leadership and various working groups, each covering specific international topics and areas of responsibility.

The IB serves as the central point of contact for the review and evaluation of international cooperation requests and delegation visits at the institutional level (see contact details below).
