The Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities is the largest and one of the strongest research academies in Germany. It conducts innovative long-term research, connects scholars across disciplines and national borders and uses its scientific expertise to influence politics and society. With its Young Academy, it also promotes excellent young academics.

What is the Junge Kolleg?

The Junge Kolleg of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities is a forum in which members establish and consolidate independent research achievements. It offers outstanding young academics from Bavaria freedom outside the universities to pursue creative and innovative research questions. For the entire funding period, they belong to the community of scholars, exchange ideas with each other and with Academy members and pursue their interdisciplinary research projects.

How is the funding structured?

As associate members of the academy, the scholarship holders of the Junges Kolleg enrich academy life through various contributions. They are actively involved in committees and working groups and develop interdisciplinary events and new research initiatives.

The members of the Junges Kolleg receive annual funding of 12,000 euros. Funding is provided for a period of three years. In the event of a successful evaluation, membership can be extended by up to three years.
