The Care-for-Rare Foundation at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich is offering the Care-for-Rare Science Award in the amount of 50,000.00 euros. The Care-for-Rare Science Award, donated by the Werner Reichenberger Foundation, is intended to enable researchers to initiate a basic scientific or clinical research project in the field of rare diseases. A disease is considered "rare" if no more than 5 in 10,000 people are affected.
The Science Award is intended to promote creative scientific ideas and contribute to a deeper biological understanding of rare diseases and the development of new diagnostic and/or therapeutic strategies.
Criteria for the selection of award winners are scientific excellence, interdisciplinarity and relevance of the project for clinical-translational science. Special consideration is given to rare diseases that manifest themselves in childhood and adolescence.
The Care-for-Rare Foundation promotes interdisciplinary and internationally oriented scientific projects with the aim of clarifying the causes of diseases and developing innovative therapies for children with rare diseases.
Individuals or groups are eligible to apply: at least one PI must be working at a German institution. The main applicant will be named as the award winner. Young researchers are expressly encouraged to apply.
The complete application documents (in English) must be submitted electronically. Details can be found at https://www.care-for-rare.org/awards/.
