You will receive your doctoral certificate after you have published your statutory copies.

Publication of the statutory copies

  • Mandatory within one year of your successful defense
  • Options for publishing the statutory copies:
    1. Publication via the University Library: submit two printed copies of the dissertation and a digital version to the “Electronic Theses” department. For your support, there are regular, short training courses on the publication of dissertations
    2. or submit two printed copies to the University Library and publish the complete thesis as sole author in a journal or journal series
    3. or submit two printed copies to the university library and publish the work as a single author as a single publication in a commercial publishing house with a minimum print run of 150 copies guaranteed by the publisher

Doctoral certificate

  • The doctoral certificate will be issued after submission of the statutory copies.
  • at the earliest 6-8 weeks after the oral examination and delivery of the statutory copies
  • The certificates are sent by registered mail.

Doctoral degree

The use of the doctoral title is only permitted after receiving the doctoral certificate!
