Submission of your dissertation

Your thesis must be submitted electronically via the Campus Portal. Once all documents have been submitted there, the evaluation of your thesis can commence.

You can download all the necessary forms pre-filled from the Campus Portal:

To submit, first fill out the “Antrag auf Zulassung zur Doktorprüfung (Dr. rer. nat.)” in the Campus Portal and enter the final title of your thesis, then save!

You can then download all the pre-filled forms from your Campus Portal.

Submitting your dissertation

The following documents must also be included in your dissertation (printed and electronic version):

  • Affidavit with signature. Please download the form from your Campus Portal. First enter the title of your thesis in the Campus Portal under “Antrag auf Zulassung zur Doktorprüfung (Dr. rer. nat.)” and save. You can then download the pre-filled form.
  • Curriculum vitae
  • List of publications

  • Complete the “Antrag auf Zulassung zur Doktorprüfung (Dr. rer. nat.)” section in the Campus Portal and enter the final title of your thesis, then save!
  • You can now download all pre-filled forms from your Campus Portal.

Please upload the following documents to the Campus Portal:

  1. Electronic version of the dissertation (PDF format, max. 10 Mb, reduce file size), incl. signed affidavit, CV and list of publications.
  2. Proof of at least two years of work under the supervision of a habilitated supervisor who holds a doctorate in the natural sciences. Please download the form from your Campus Portal, sign it and upload it again.
  3. Form “Münchener Universitätsgesellschaft”. Please download the form from your Campus Portal.
  4. Declaration for external studies, if applicable
  5. Statement on the “iThenticate” report (more information under “Plagiarism check”)
  6. Confirmation of co-authors (only required if submitting a cumulative dissertation). Please download the forms from your Campus Portal account under “Publications”, have them signed and upload them there again.
  7. Antrag auf Zulassung zur Doktorprüfung (Dr. rer. nat.). Please download the form from your Campus Portal.

The following documents have to be included in your dissertation:

  1. Affidavit with signature. Please download the form from your Campus Portal
  2. Curriculum vitae
  3. List of publications

Please send a short email to the doctoral office once you have uploaded all documents.

Please use our template for your cover page when submitting your dissertation to the doctoral office (= review copies). Leave the names of the reviewers and the date of the oral examination blank.

Before you can submit your dissertation to the university library at the end of your doctorate, we will send you the finalized cover page, which you must include in your dissertation for the university library (statutory copies) without any changes.

Important note: If changes are made to the final cover page sent by us, this may result in your mandatory copies not being approved.

Your submission is complete once you have submitted all documents via the Campus Portal.
Please inform the Doctoral Office briefly by email as soon as you have submitted all documents via the Campus Portal.

You do not need to submit a printed version of your dissertation at this stage. If a bound copy is required for the review process, you will be contacted separately.

Send by post to: Doctoral Office, Promotionsbüro, Dekanat der Medizinischen Fakultät, Bavariaring 19, 80336 München
or drop it in the mailbox at the Dean's Office. The mailbox is to the right of the entrance at the garden gate. Please divide your documents into several envelopes if one envelope is too bulky for a regular letterbox slot.
