Core Facility Animal Models

The Core Facility Animal Models (CAM) provides the research groups at the BMC and beyond a platform to conduct animal experimentation in accordance with the legal requirements of the European and national (German) law. The CAM consists of several functional units for breeding and keeping mice, rats, clawed frogs, zebrafish, hamsters and rabbits.

Our team consists of animal care technicians, service staff, laboratory staff and veterinarians. The main task of the CAM team is to care for and look after the animals used in scientific projects. In addition, the team advises researchers on project planning and practical issues and supports them in carrying out experiments. In addition to a wide range of services for researchers, we also conduct our own research on laboratory animal science and translational topics.
