On 4 July 2025, the 14th Dragon Boat Race between the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and the Technische Universität München (TUM) took place on the Olympic Lake in Munich. Twenty teams from various faculties, institutes and facilities of both universities competed against each other in the best summer weather and in a lively atmosphere - including once again a team from the Biomedical Centre (BMC) at LMU.
Under this year's motto ‘Lab Smurfs’, the BMC team took to the starting line in costume and with great motivation. The BMC team has competed in previous years and this tradition has now been continued.
Several timed heats were held to determine the competitors for the title of ‘Master of the Olympic Lake’, with the best teams competing against each other in the semi-final and final in the evening. The 250-metre course requires full power for one-and-a-half to two minutes. The Professor race was a special highlight, which was won by LMU. The 'Haut Rein' team from LMU Dermatology also took first place. Congratulations to both LMU teams on their victories! In addition to the sporting placings, the most creative teams were also honoured.
The event was organised with the support of both universities. More information
