Flow Core Facility at BMC LMU Munich Renews ISAC SRL Status
22 Oct 2025
We are pleased to announce that the Flow Core Facility of the Biomedical Center (BMC) at LMU Munich has been officially recognised by the International Society for the Advancement of Cytometry (ISAC) for the period 2025–2028.

Flow cytometry is a cornerstone technology in modern biomedical research. Behind every high-quality dataset stands a facility ensuring that instruments perform reliably, that researchers receive proper training, and that results are reproducible. This is where the ISAC status plays an important role. Our Core Facility Flow Cytometry supports over 70 research groups. This certification marks a successful renewal of our status as a Shared Resource Laboratory (SRL), following the previous term of 2022–2025.
A rigorous recognition process
The ISAC SRL Recognition Program is intended to highlight those core facilities that meet or exceed best practices in flow cytometry operations. Recognition is not automatic: it is granted only following a detailed application and review process, which evaluates multiple dimensions such as laboratory safety, quality control and assurance, operations and management, staffing, standard operating procedures, training and education, and data management.
What SRL recognition means
Recognition as an ISAC Shared Resource Laboratory places us within a global network of core facilities dedicated to supporting reproducible, high-impact cytometry research. This certification reassures users and collaborators, both internal and external, that they can depend on us to continue advancing, benchmarking and aligning with the evolving best practices in our field.
The foundation for the SRL Recognition Program is built upon the ISAC flow cytometry SRL Best Practices (Barsky et al., 2016), which define the standards that a flow cytometry core should aim to satisfy.
