This award recognises lecturers who have made an outstanding contribution to medical education through their exceptional commitment and innovative teaching methods.

Since 2011, Dr Corinna Haupt from the Chair of Physiological Genomics at the Biomedical Center (BMC) of LMU Munich has played a key role in teaching physiology to undergraduate students of human medicine and dentistry. Prior to this, she served as a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Biology, where she was responsible for teaching on osmoregulation as part of the animal physiology practical course. Since 2012, she has also contributed as an examiner in medicine for the aptitude examination organised by the Bavarian State Ministry, thereby supporting the quality assurance of academic admissions beyond LMU.
A particular hallmark of her work is her ongoing commitment to innovative teaching formats. During the course of the pandemic, she successfully adapted her neurophysiology lectures to a video format, complemented by Zoom-based discussion sessions. Additionally, she pioneered the implementation of structured online oral examinations as a viable alternative to conventional written examinations for large student cohorts. Additional tutorial sessions, some of which are delivered alongside clinical colleagues, help to strengthen the link between pre-clinical teaching and clinical practice. Since 2025, podcasts featuring practising clinicians have further enriched the neurophysiology curriculum, reinforcing the close integration of basic biomedical science and clinical medicine.
In addition to her own teaching duties, Corinna Haupt is deeply committed to the further development of teaching and the support of early-career researchers. Since 2022, she has organised and led an annual teaching development week before the start of the winter semester. The programme helps new colleagues transition into teaching while promoting collaboration, knowledge exchange and team building within the teaching community. In 2025, she also established a workshop for aspiring and early-career examiners involved in the oral M1 examination under the patronage of the DAM. The programme has become firmly established, and this will be its third iteration in 2026. Since 2022, she has also been a regular lecturer within the DAM team for the MeCuM Intensive Seminar Teaching (InSeL) programme.
Her excellence in teaching has also been recognised beyond the Faculty. She delivered lectures for two online courses which were awarded the Teaching Prize by the Virtual University of Bavaria (VHB), including courses on Alzheimer's disease and the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
In the laudation, Corinna Haupt was recognised for her long-standing commitment, didactic creativity and lasting contribution to the continuous development of medical education. With the Harald Mückter Award for Innovation in Teaching, the Faculty of Medicine honours individuals who develop new approaches to teaching and make a lasting contribution to the education of future doctors and dentists.

However, excellent teaching is never an individual achievement; it depends on teamwork. I am deeply grateful to be part of such an inspiring community at LMU.
