The event on the 8th of July 2026 highlighted how scientific excellence is strengthened by researchers with diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, as well as a wide range of personal and professional experiences.

Three distinguished Munich-based scientists presented their latest work in different areas of biomedical research while reflecting on the experiences and challenges that had shaped their scientific journeys. Miguel Pleitez introduced his research in translational optoacoustics, Susanna Hofmann discussed lipid metabolism and metabolic diseases, and Jennifer Altomonte presented her work on oncolytic virus-based cancer immunotherapeutics.

Alongside their scientific talks, each speaker shared insights into their career path, offering an honest perspective on the opportunities and obstacles they had encountered.

Following the scientific programme, participants continued their discussions during a networking coffee break before joining smaller Meet-the-Speaker sessions. The symposium fostered lively discussions among researchers at different career stages and from a broad range of backgrounds.
